Sport
at Uplands Prep is an essential part of the
daily curriculum. The sports programme aims
to give every pupil in the school the opportunity
to play each sport offered during a particular
season. This aim is achieved by the use of a
structured afternoon programme which allows
to pupils the opportunity to participate in
the wide variety of sports offered in our afternoon
programme. As far as possible we try to give
the top sportsmen and women the opportunity
to achieve their very best while creating an
environment in which the average pupil can play
sport and perhaps most importantly, enjoy his
or her sport.
Two
big sports fields, one the main cricket oval
and the other big enough to accommodate a full
400m athletics track, are fully utilised by
the pupils in a comprehensive sports programme.
There are six all-weather tennis and netball
courts and a 25m swimming pool which sees regular
inter-house and inter-school swimming galas.
The
school’s PTA has been busy in recent years,
fundraising for pool improvements, and as a
result we have paved surrounds and covered stands
as well as a user-friendly salt-water chlorinator and change room.
The
spacious school hall is used for the teaching
of such extras as Modern dancing, Ballet and
Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Unlike many other schools which are associated
with an adjoining college, we do not share any
facilities with our big brother, which means
full utilisation of all facilities by the Uplands
Prep School's pupils, both on weekdays and over
weekends.
